The purpose of this study focuses on the interest of the City Council of Galdakao in conducting a feasibility and traffic analysis of a new route of the current shuttle (bus) that connects the Metro Bilbao with the municipality. The potential benefits that this service would have for the residents of Galdakao and Etxebarri are highlighted, enhancing the connectivity and intermodality of these two municipalities.

In this sense, several alternatives for the shuttle line are being considered, which will start at the Metro Bilbao stop in Etxebarri (instead of Bolueta) and will have approximately 14 bus-stops along its route, ending at the Galdakao-Usansolo Hospital.

In addition to the feasibility study, the Technical Assistance service will also include the analysis of the possible effects on the residents of the municipality of Etxebarri derived from the passage of the shuttle (noise, pollution, effects on traffic, road widths, study of turns, etc.), and solutions will be proposed to minimize them (electric bus, innovative urban mobility solutions, etc.).

The study will also include another series of considerations that will take into account the suggestions already published by the users of the shuttle, such as improved accessibility, gender equality, safety of the stop environment and various infrastructures (toilets for drivers, bus shelters, etc.), which should be taken into account in the new location; the Metro Bilbao station of Etxebarri.
